Detoxifying Pore Treatment Protocol

Treatment Protocol

Clear pores, smooth skin, and reduce sebum production with this gentle and effective pore detoxifying treatment. This peel alternative delivers instant results, as well as long-term skin-clarifying benefits.

Detoxifying Pore Treatment (4 fl oz/118.3mL bottle)

Key Ingredients

  • Citric Acid an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) naturally found in citrus fruits.
  • Enantia Chlorantha Bark Extract and Oleanolic Acid reduce sebocyte proliferation and sebum secretion. Use of this blend leads to a visible tightening of pores and reduction in shine.
  • Ethyl Linoleate and Hexylresorcinol inhibit the enzyme 5-∂-reductase to reduce oil production and breakouts while also reducing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Glycolic Acid is an AHA that helps to break down the bonds between the cells (desmosomes) and acts as a strong degreasing agent. It is best used short-term on very oily skin types. Overuse can cause irritation, dehydration and overproduction of sebum.
  • Lactic Acid an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) naturally found in milk and sugars. It is part of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF) and moisturizes the skin.

Cleanse

1. Facial Wash Oily/Problem – Cleanse the area of treatment thoroughly. Rinse and pat dry.

Prep

2. Smoothing Toner – Apply with a cotton pad to prep the skin. Allow the skin to dry. This product may sting or tingle on some individuals. Assess sensitivity by asking the patient, “On a scale of one to ten, ten being extremely active, how do you rate this sensation (or feeling)?”

Treat

3. Steam – You may turn on your steamer at this time and leave it on for the duration of the massage (remember not to combine steam with any other PCA SKIN® peels).

4. Detoxifying Pore Treatment – Before using, gently agitate the product. Dispense a generous amount into your peel dish. Using your small fan brush, apply onto the areas of treatment, concentrating on areas of breakouts. Using gloved hands, gently massage the product into the skin for approximately five to eight minutes. You may apply more Detoxifying Pore Treatment to continue your massage if the product dries on the skin. This is typically not necessary if using in conjunction with steam.

  • Use the scale of 1 to 10 to gauge sensitivity. Fan the skin to keep the patient cool. Allow Detoxifying Pore Treatment to penetrate. The skin will have a slightly flushed appearance.
  • The maximum number of layers is one.

5. Extractions – If needed, you may now perform gentle extractions. Impurities should be purged from the follicles with ease.

  • Using a cotton pad, swipe the areas of extractions with Smoothing Toner to clean and soothe any inflammation that is present.

Note: You may use Nutrient Toner in place of Smoothing Toner on sensitive skin types.

Correct

6. After the Detoxifying Pore Treatment has been absorbed into the skin or after extractions, customize the protocol with a combination of corrective daily care products to address your patient’s particular concerns and skincare goals. Consider using Pore Minimizer Skin Mattifying Gel to further reduce pore size and excess oil production.

Retinoid booster (optional)

7. Advanced Treatment Booster – Dispense two pumps into gloved hands. Gently spread the product over the area of treatment, keeping application even and thin.

  • Use the scale of 1 to 10 to gauge sensitivity. Most patients will not have any sensitivity to this product.
  • The maximum number of layers is one.

Hydrate & protect

8. ReBalance and the appropriate PCA SKIN® broad spectrum SPF product – Complete the treatment with this combination to calm, hydrate and protect the skin from UVA and UVB exposure.

9.  Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster – Finish with a liberal application to improve hydration and reduce the appearance of lip lines.

Note: Apply the appropriate PCA SKIN® broad spectrum SPF product prior to applying Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster to protect the lips from UVA and UVB exposure.
