Hypopigmentation and Professional Treatments

Chemical peels are not recommended for those with vitiligo. Vitiligo can be triggered by heat and friction, and the application of a chemical peel can create heat, which in turn can exacerbate the very condition you are trying to treat.

To promote an even skin tone when treating UV-induced or post-traumatic hypopigmentation it is recommended to incorporate a daily care regimen. However, it is important to remember that there are no available regimens to re-pigment the white lesions, but the reduction of the surrounding hyperpigmentation will typically make the hypopigmentation appear less noticeable.
