Daily Care Regimen for Patients on Isotretinoin Therapy (Accutane®)

Daily Care Regimen

This regimen is designed to dramatically increase moisture levels and calm the skin of patients undergoing isotretinoin therapy (Accutane®). The products included are deeply moisturizing and calming to provide maximum hydration and soothe. Isotretinoin therapy instigates a major change in the skin, so patients may need to try several product combinations during their course of treatment to determine the optimum combination for their skin.

Dual Action Redness Relief (1 fl oz/30mL bottle); Hydrating Serum (1 fl oz/29.5mL bottle)

Morning:

  1. Cleanse the skin with a small amount of Creamy Cleanser. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
  2. Apply one to two pumps of Rejuvenating Serum to hydrate, soothe, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  3. Apply one to two pumps of Hydrating Serum to increase moisture and inhibit TEWL.
  4. Apply the appropriate PCA SKIN® broad spectrum SPF product for daytime moisture and broad spectrum UV protection.
  5. For the lips, apply Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster to improve hydration and reduce the appearance of lip lines.

Note: Apply the appropriate PCA SKIN broad spectrum SPF product prior to applying Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster to protect the lips from UV exposure.

Evening:

  1. Cleanse the skin with a small amount of Creamy Cleanser. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.
  2. Apply a mixture of Hydrating Serum and Dual Action Redness Relief to improve hydration and barrier function.
  3. Apply a small amount of Silkcoat® Balm for hydration with additional calming benefits, or Clearskin for light hydration and to promote a clear complexion.
  4. For the lips, apply Hyaluronic Acid Lip Booster.

Tip: When first starting isotretinoin therapy (Accutane®), a variety of dosage levels may be tried before finding the correct level for a patient. During this time, and at any time of increased inflammation and irritation, apply CliniCalm® 1%. Due to the maximum strength of hydrocortisone contained in CliniCalm® 1%, it should only be used for seven-day intervals or as directed by a physician. For times of intense dryness and aging concerns, apply Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum throughout the day.
